Newborn Care Specialists Claim your ideal clientTamiko Kelly was the first speaker for the Newborn Care Specialists educational track at the INA Conference in Cancun. Tamiko gave a presentation titled, “Claim Your Ideal Client:  How to Take Your Business From Frazzled to Fantastic With 3 Simple Steps.”

Tamiko began her presentation with her background and how she came to be a Sleep Consultant.  Her valuable lessons on reaching that goal were shared with us and were inspiring to those just getting started in this industry.  She broke down the myths and how to overcome them.  She then talked about the “meat and potatoes” of your own business, meaning, “Who do I want to serve?”

Lesson one was The 6 Critical Steps. One of the 6 Critical Steps is to know “your must haves”. In other words, know who you like working with! Establish what you do not like and set the parameters around that when talking to potential clients.  Choose jobs that reflect your philosophy and goals.  These things make for a happy client, baby and, NCS!

Lesson two was to communicate your value and get paid handsomely for your expertise. A nugget of wisdom from Tamiko was to lead with your value not the price! You want the client to know how your services will change their lives. It is important to be a good listener, repeat the client’s words back to them, and let them know you understand. Most importantly, value yourself and your knowledge and never apologize for your rates. Overall, we learned “the price is the price.” Tamiko was wonderful at pumping us up to value ourselves and our knowledge in this area. She was a great cheerleader!

Lesson three taught new ways to find your ideal client, which tied into lesson four, Facebook 101.  Discussion formed around the old way of marketing, the new way of marketing, and how to get started with your own business.  The new way focused on Facebook Ads, which are affordable and easy to edit. Your Facebook Ad can be tailored around activities, interests, and values. The newborn care specialists in attendance asked many questions regarding the tools you can use with Facebook and how to apply them to your business. The talk centered on psychographics, not demographics.
