On March 27, 2014, the International Nanny Association is hosting their 29th Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California. This event draws nanny placement agencies, child caregivers, educators and related businesses from around the world, and features programming on industry best practices, innovations in education and business solutions over the course of three days.
The INA serves as the umbrella association for the in-home child care industry through a comprehensive website, informative weekly briefs and the annual conference.
In addition to educational seminars and workshops, the INA recognizes achievements in the industry by presenting two awards, The NOTY™, or Nanny of the Year, which is presented annually by the International Nanny Association to recognize the excellence of a working nanny. To acknowledge industry stakeholders, the INA presents the Harriette Grant Service Award Pin to a nominated individual who has been employed as a nanny, nanny educator or business owner for 5 or more years.
Our earlier announcement about Keynote Speaker Dr. Jenn Berman received a tremendous response. We are delighted to announce another prestigious speaker and educator for the 2014 INA conference, renowned pediatrician Dr. Harvey Karp, author of The Happiest Baby on the Block (Random House, 2003). Dr. Karp will be hosting an educational workshop for Nannies and will also be leading an educational seminar for Newborn Care Specialists.
Dr. Karp is a child development specialist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at USC School of Medicine. In pediatric practice for almost 30 years, Dr. Karp has taught thousands of parents his secrets for soothing colic, boosting infant sleep, reducing tantrums, and promoting patience. Dr. Karp serves on the advisory board of Barnes & Noble, and is also a parenting life coach for AOL.
He has appeared numerous times on Good Morning America, The View, Larry King Live, Dr. Phil, The Early Show, and ABC World News Tonight. Dr. Karp has been published by the Associated Press, New York Times, Time, Newsweek and People Magazine. He has been a spokesman for the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a founding board member of Healthy Child/Healthy World, an organization dedicated to protecting children from everyday toxins.
