INA’s New, Updated Nanny Basic Skills Assessment

INA NANNY BASIC SKILLS ASSESSMENT

Exciting news for the INA’s Nanny Agency members!

The International Nanny Association is pleased to announce the launch of the Updated Nanny Basic Skills Assessment. The updates include current best practices and research-based content according to the National Association of Early Childhood Education, American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization and Industry Professionals from INA. The assessment is available in both English and Spanish in the online format.

What is it?

The INA Nanny Basic Skills Assessment is an important tool available exclusively to INA members to assist in candidate screening and the establishment of agency candidate metrics. Agencies who use the INA Nanny Basic Skills Assessment have a competitive advantage in their local markets. This assessment consists of 40 multiple choice questions that take only 30 to 45 minutes to complete. The questions are focused on 4 specific areas: Health and Safety, Child Development, Basic Care Techniques and Professionalism.

How to use it?

This Nanny Basic Skills Assessment can be used by nannies to test their knowledge or as a screening tool for nanny agencies to use while evaluating nanny candidates for placement. The scoring of the assessment provides immediate feedback. Agencies can use the scores to evaluate if the candidate has a basic knowledge needed to work in a home with young children. Incorrect responses can also be used to open up dialogue and discuss best practices when working with children and families. It may also encourage a nanny to seek professional development trainings, webinars or classes to bone up on their skills.

This assessment is ONLY available to INA Members. Nannies may purchase assessments individually or agency members can pay for a yearly subscription that enables a set number of assessments. INA Agencies can purchase these assessments in bulk, 150 exams for $200 – that’s $1.25 per assessments! Don’t delay – Order online.* You will receive an email containing your customized assessments link within 3 business days.

* TIP! If you log into your INA online account prior to purchasing from the e-Store, you will receive a 20% discount!

Why use it?

Using this assessment developed by industry professionals helps to differentiate you or your agency from others. Agencies that vet candidates through a screening process and require them to pass the INA Nanny Basic Skills Assessment demonstrate credibility and dedication to placing qualified professionals. Nannies can share nanny basic skill assessment results with current employers. By demonstrating relevant competencies, a nanny can add this achievement to their resume.

My agency, Family Helpers, has been using the Nanny Basic Skills Assessment as a tool in screening nanny candidates for several years. It has become an important part of our vetting process and we find that both clients and candidates find value in it, too.

Candidates like getting the feedback about what areas they are very knowledgeable in and what areas they may need to do some continuing education. Clients appreciate that we give the exam to candidates and view the exam as an important part of the assessment process.
