Every year the INA recognizes one Childcare Professional for his or her personal achievements working as a Nanny, Newborn Care Specialist (NCS), or Specialty Nanny. The INA Nanny of the Year™ is a positive role model for our industry and association, a genuine advocate for children, and a person who has enriched the lives of the families for whom he or she has worked.
Individuals can be nominated by current or past employers, fellow colleagues who work closely with the individual or placement agencies with whom the candidate has been placed. Nominees for NOTY™ must meet the criteria outlined in the 2021 NOTY Information Packet so be sure to read and fully understand what is expected before accepting a nomination.
The nomination/portfolio process is a thorough one, so we have provided a step-by-step outline within the 2020 NOTY™ Information Packet.

The NOTY™ Committee made many advancements last year and had a record number of nominees! This year the team’s goal is to complete the work started last year and clarify those updates to make them easier to understand. Check out the 2021 NOTY Information Packet for the full details. Some of those updates include the following
- Due to the number of nominations last year, the committee has come up with a process of narrowing down the nominees. All those nominated and eligible will continue to be called NOTY™ Nominees. They will be introduced as such the week of March 8th. Once evaluations are complete and averaged, the top 5 Nominees will be considered NOTY™ Finalists and announced as such April on 26th. The selected 2021 NOTY™ will then be introduced on a date in May yet to be determined.
- We have clarified the possible definition of “specialty nanny” and requirements for individuals who have jobs in addition to their nanny or specialty nanny job.
- With the continued uncertainty of our Annual Conference due to COVID, we will be waving the requirement for the 2021 NOTY™ to attend the next two conferences.
- We have a few new terms including NOTY™ Finalists, and NOTY™ Selection Panel. Check out the full information packet for an understanding of these.
We have offered shorter deadlines to nominate someone for Nanny of the Year and to fill out the digital portfolio in order to complete the process in time. - Evaluations are imputed via a private google form and 70% of the evaluation by the NOTY™ Selection Panel is done via blind evaluation, meaning they do not see names or locations of the NOTY™ candidate.
