The in-home child care industry is constantly evolving and changing. Over the last 34 years, the INA has grown and matured to develop along with the industry. The Board of Directors is always looking for ways to better represent and serve you. In the next month, we will be making another leap in our progression.

For many years we have divided our membership into 4 main categories. Individual, Independent Supporter, Standard and Supporting. These labels have served us well but it is time to update them.

This revamp will help in a number of ways. It will:

  • Clarify which membership category is right for you.
  • Better define the benefits of each membership category.
  • Provide options with more return on investment.
  • Simplify the process started when we introduced the Associate Member level.
  • Create a specific place for Support Groups, Newborn Care Specialists, Business Staff, Nanny Employers, and Online Recruiting Platforms.

New Categories

You can find a complete list of annual dues and member benefits for each of our new categories at the bottom of the page. Find the category that best represents you:

  • Nanny
  • Support Group
  • Nanny Employer
  • Newborn Care Specialist
  • Business Staff
  • Educator
  • Placement Agency
  • Industry Service
  • Online Recruiting Platform

Premium Membership will still be available for people who want to hold up to 10 “memberships” in different categories or who want their franchise business listed multiple times in the Directory.

Adaptations from Associate Membership Level

In 2016 we introduced the Associate Membership in an effort to educate our new members on the INA Recommended Practices. While this has been successful in helping our members to understand these policies, it has caused some logistic problems within our system. As part of these changes, anyone wishing to be a new member will be required to watch a New Member Video and agree to adhere to our Recommended Practices before they are officially enrolled in membership. New members will no longer be required to be Associate Members for a year and existing Associate Members will be moved to a new category.Recommended Practices have been developed for Support Groups, Business Staff, Nanny Employers, Newborn Care Specialists and Online Recruiting Platforms. The New Member Videos will be tailored to fit the category and based on the Recommended Practices.

Transition Process

Over the next 2 weeks, the INA staff will be combing through our membership roster and deciding which new category each current member will move into. If you would like to request a move to a particular category, please let us know by emailing memberservices@nanny.org. From Friday, February 1st – Sunday, February 3rd, the INA Member Portal will be closed and we will not accept new members during this time. The INA staff will take this 3-day period to make the transition and update our website. On Monday, February 4th, the portal will open up and we will start accepting new memberships in the new categories.

If you choose to be moved to a new member level that is a higher price than your current level is, your current year will be grandfathered in, meaning you will not owe anything extra until your current year membership is up. If you choose to be moved to a new member level that is lower than your price, you can request a pro-rated refund.
