Travel Tips to Mexico and Customs

INA Conference Attendees and Guests!    Here is some helpful information for your travel and arrival in Cancun, for our 30th Annual Conference. If you familiarize yourself with these procedures, you will find the Cancun airport easy to navigate and the customs and immigration staff pleasant.

1.  You will receive two immigration/customs documents prior to disembarkation in Cancun. Please have these completed and ready with your passport as you exit the plane. You can review these via the links below.

           1st Document

           2nd Document

DO NOT PRINT THESE OUT AND COMPLETE AHEAD OF TIME.
THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.   YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THESE ON THE PLANE.

2.  Cell phone use is NOT permitted until after you have cleared immigration.

3. Your first stop will be immigration. You will need to present your completed Mexican Tourist Card AND your passport. Your arrival will be noted, your passport and tourist card stamped and  you will proceed to baggage claim. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR TOURIST CARD TO EXIT MEXICO – KEEP SAFELY WITH YOUR PASSPORT. If you lose your tourist card while in Cancun, you have to obtain a copy or permission to leave Mexico from the immigration office located downtown (outside the Hotel Zone, not convenient to the airport).

4. If you checked bags, claim your luggage in baggage claim. If you had no checked bags, proceed directly to Customs. Your bags may be subject to inspection – this is generally a random process that works like a lottery. You press a button at a “traffic light” – green means hand over your customs paper and proceed to the exit. Red means your baggage will be briefly searched.

5. After customs, exit the building. There will be dozens of vendors in khaki pants and white shirts all attempting to sell you tours, taxi rides, and the like. Ignore ALL of them. Exit the building and proceed across the access drive and to the left island. Transportation for INA guests is arranged through GLOBAL INCENTIVES MANAGEMENT, and they will have INA signage.
